He will be presented with his Helmet Award during the South Central LEAD Provincial Conference in San Antonio, TX.
Thomas Bankston, Angelo State (TX), was initiated into Eta Theta chapter of Delta Sigma Pi in 1976 in the same pledge class as the first two women initiated into Eta Theta. He was a faculty member at that time and two years later assumed the role of Chapter Advisor, which he continued for 38 years until his retirement in 2014. During those years he attended countless business meetings, professional presentations, community service events, field trips and social gatherings. There were so many activities that his two daughters considered themselves unofficial members! To him, the greatest reward from his years as a Deltasig has been meeting his collegiate brothers and contributing to their transition from academic to professional lives.
Brother Bankston was awarded the Silver Helmet in 2001, and then earned the 2013-14 National Chapter Advisor of the Year Award. A strong supporter of the Leadership Foundation and member of the Deltasig Investors Roundtable, Brother Bankston is recognized at the Architect Giving Level.
Professionally, Brother Bankston worked for a major oil company before joining Angelo State University as a professor of finance. He taught there from 1974 to 2014.
