Delta Sigma Pi Gains Another Mentor

Oct 21, 2026 – Marshall University President Brad Smith Joins Delta Sigma Pi.

In March 2026, Marshall University President Brad Smith was initiated into Xi Upsilon Chapter in a building that shares his name, the Brad D. Smith Center for Business and Innovation at Marshall University. Brother Smith spoke to the chapter before being initiated and reflected on the principles of leadership he’s learned from others throughout his career, specifically mentioning the importance of hard work and mentorship.

“Being inducted into Delta Sigma Pi is both humbling and meaningful, and having that moment connected to Marshall University made it even more special. To me, it represents a commitment to leadership, service and excellence — values that have shaped my professional journey and continue to guide me personally,” said Brad.

Before his presidency at Marshall, he served as CEO of Intuit for over 11 years. Brad currently sits on the Board of Directors for Amazon and JPMorgan Chase, and he previously served on the Board of Directors for Humana, Inc. He is also a Board Advisor for DignifiHealth, Co-Chair of the Southern Regional Education Board’s Commission on AI in Education, and Co-Founder of the Wing 2 Wing Foundation.
