This event is a fun way to network with professionals from a variety of corporations. The chapter invites current and potential corporate sponsors along with other business student organizations for this daylong kickball tournament. With recruiters playing alongside students, the event allows people to network in a non-intimidating environment. The chapter’s generous corporate participants at this year’s event included Baxter Healthcare, Deloitte, EY, Grainger, Grant Thornton, Healthscape Advisors, True Partner’s Consulting, and Wells Fargo. Nothing like a little friendly competition to get you acclimated into the business world!
Along with the professional aspect of the event, the chapter uses the opportunity to raise money for a good cause. This year, the chapter collected contributions for Hoofin’ 4 Hardy, an organization which supplies free testing for hypertrophic cardiomyopathy to high school students created in honor of a University of Illinois student.
An event similar to this would be perfect for any chapter! If interested in hosting your own event, consider these tips:
- Invite companies in your area to participate in this fun, charitable event
- Establish a standard donation required for companies to participate
- Have students purchase tickets to the event which includes a T-Shirt and catered lunch
- Choose a worthy charity to donate the raised funds to
- Continue to raise money at the event through a 50/50 raffle or bake sale
- Offer a prize for the winning team!
