(1931-2026) It is with great sadness that we remember Brother Frank M. Busch, Jr., Sam Houston State, initiated into 
Delta Sigma Pi in 1961.
His kindness, leadership, and enduring dedication to Delta Sigma Pi will be remembered and cherished for generations to come. A devoted brother, his commitment to the Fraternity spanned more than 65 years.
Frank dedicated his life to serving others as an educator, mentor, advisor, and leader, touching generations of Deltasigs through his wisdom, generosity, and unwavering support.
Frank began his Fraternity career in 1961 when he was initiated as a faculty member into Epsilon Mu Chapter at Sam Houston State University. By 1966, he had found his way to Louisiana Tech where he joined the faculty of the College of Administration and
Business.
Along the way, Frank served as Director for the old Southern Region, which included parts of four states; Vice President for the Southern Province; member of the Board of Directors for 10 years; member of the National Executive Committee for six years;
and Secretary of the Delta Sigma Pi Educational Foundation (a predecessor to the current Leadership Foundation).
As Assistant Dean for Undergraduate Affairs, Frank's interpersonal skills are without equal.
Not too long after the Fraternity welcomed women members in the mid-70s, the gender issue came up for discussion on the floor of the Grand Chapter Congress. Frank nearly brought down the house where he, extolling the virtues and abilities of female members,
exclaimed, "You know, there are just things you can do with women that you can't do with men!"
A retired professor at Louisiana Tech University, Frank believed deeply in the values of brotherhood and lifelong service. His many contributions were recognized through some of Delta Sigma Pi’s highest honors, including the Lifetime Achievement
Award (1998). The Lifetime Achievement Award is the highest honor any Fraternity member can receive and is issued annually to the one brother who has demonstrated exemplary support, service, and leadership to the Fraternity.
Busch was a member of the Golden Council in 2000, earned his Golden Helmet Award in 2012, and was honored as Gulf South Region District Director of the Year in 2017. He also served as District Director, was a member of the Centennial Society, and
remained an active brother through the Space City Houston (Tex.) Alumni Chapter.
While his accomplishments were significant, those who knew Frank will remember him most for the time he invested in others. Whether advising chapters, attending Grand Chapter Congresses, mentoring young brothers, or supporting students through the scholarship
that bears his name – the Frank M. Busch (Victor A. Tabor) Scholarship, which supports brothers from the Gulf Southern Region – Frank’s legacy lives on in the lives he helped shape.
His final Grand Chapter Congress in Houston served as a fitting reflection of a lifetime devoted to the Fraternity he loved. Few people truly embody the idea of being a Deltasig for life.
