Three Generations of Whisenant Deltasigs

Apr 09, 2018 – B. Todd Whisenant and Lesli Powell Whisenant met through Delta Sigma Pi 26 years ago when she was initiated into Delta Iota at Florida Southern College (Todd was Alpha Sigma at Alabama).

Over the span of their 22 years of marriage and counting, the two have served the Fraternity in numerous capacities. Lesli was nominated Regional Collegian of the Year, served as Vice President-Pledge Education and President during her college years (as did Todd). Todd also served as a chapter consultant, District Director and Regional Vice President.

The Whisenant family experienced an exciting moment when their son, Andrew, was initiated into Delta Iota and was given his grandfather Ben Whisenant's, North Carolina-Chapel Hill, badge. Andrew has been familiar with Deltasig his entire life, and even attended the South Atlantic-Atlantic Coast joint Regional Initiation in November 1998 when he was just five days old! During that initiation, Lesli's brother Scott Powell was initiated into Delta Iota.

Lesli's uncle, John Powell, Florida, and great uncle Miles Davis (also Florida) are also Deltasigs, making Andrew the seventh Deltasig in their immediate/extended family. Lesli says, "Delta Sigma Pi has had a profound impact on our lives, both professionally and personally, since without it Andrew might not even exist!"
