For Berlat, this position is not simply the next step in a leadership journey. It is the continuation of nearly three decades of service to Delta Sigma Pi.

“Supporting the Leadership Foundation is one more way for me to enhance the experience of our collegiate brothers, by financially supporting the educational programming that Deltasig provides and scholarships for brothers in need,” she said. “Serving as a Trustee and as Chair is exciting, especially right now, as I see the Leadership Foundation really growing and changing for the next phase.”

Berlat has held numerous positions throughout the organization. From serving on many regional, provincial, national and Leadership Foundation committees to serving on the Fraternity Board of Directors as VP-Finance (2003–2007), she has consistently answered the call to serve.

Before becoming Chair, she served as Leadership Foundation Vice Chair from 2024 to 2026. Since becoming a Trustee in 2021, she has helped guide the Leadership Foundation through a period of growth and increased engagement.

Her exceptional contributions are shown through her Deltasig honors. Joelle earned her Silver Helmet Award for 25 years to service to Delta Sigma Pi and achieved the highest honor in Delta Sigma Pi, the Lifetime Achievement Award. This award is given to members who exemplify the spirit of Delta Sigma Pi by their lifetime of service, support, and brotherhood, and Fraternity, business and civic involvement.

Her passion for leadership development ultimately led her to the Leadership Foundation, where she dedicated years to strengthening the organization's financial stewardship and governance.

“I’m really excited to see Joelle step into the role of Chair,” said previous Leadership Foundation Chair Shawn Gregory. “I know she will work closely with our Trustees and staff to continue building on the momentum we’ve created over the past several years, growing support for the Leadership Foundation and expanding the impact we have on the Fraternity and our collegiate chapters. I’m looking forward to seeing where she takes us next.”

Under Berlat's leadership, that partnership is expected to grow even stronger.

Outside of Delta Sigma Pi, Joelle had successful career as a tax specialist with over 30 years of experience, including a long career with Deloitte Tax LLP in Houston. She retired from Deloitte in 2024 and now serves as director of wine tourism for Purple Lemming Travel, bringing the same entrepreneurial spirit and relationship-building skills that have characterized her volunteer leadership.

As she begins her tenure as Chair, Berlat understands that Delta Sigma Pi's future depends on more than financial resources. It depends on people, volunteers willing to give their time, talent, and treasure in support of future generations.

“My hope for the Fraternity is that it continues to thrive, especially in the changing world of higher education,” Berlat said. “I think we have a lot to offer to students of business, and I hope that our volunteer leaders continue to communicate that in a way that resonates with students.”
