Board Approves Virtual and Socially Distanced Ritual

Jul 26, 2020 – On July 15, the Board of Directors invoked "Emergency Powers" to temporarily replace the current Ritual book.

The Board invoked Ritual Regulation Article X. "Emergency Powers" to temporarily replace the current Ritual Book with two adapted versions to allow for socially distanced or virtual Ritual as the situation requires. With these approved modifications, all chapters will be able to properly and safely conduct Initiation. As such, the Board has also reaffirmed the expectation for all collegiate chapters to actively recruit and have pledge classes this fall. It is our priority to support chapters with resources to help navigate virtual recruitment. Included in this support is the launch of a national Recruitment Video Contest

Regardless of format, Delta Sigma Pi's Ritual remains an important part of membership. While the Board has approved logistical changes to the delivery method and choreography around Ritual, the meaning, values and purpose remain unchanged.

New electronic copies of the virtual and socially distanced Rituals will be made available to chapters by the week of August 10. In the meantime, we are working to communicate our plans for training opportunities across the organization on these adapted versions. Staff and local volunteers will work with each chapter individually to coordinate selection and training of the Ritual that will work best for them.
