About the Facilitator:

Dan Tracy, South Dakota, has a long record of service to the university, the profession, the community and Delta Sigma Pi. In Delta Sigma Pi, he has served on several regional and national committees, as a District Director, and as a Chapter Advisor for two different chapters for more than a dozen years.

Dr. Tracy is a professor of decision sciences. He holds a BS in health services administration and an MBA from the University of South Dakota, and a PhD in decision sciences from Washington State University.  Prior to his academic career Dan spent much of his career in operations management positions in restaurant, retail, and construction.  He has also provided consulting services to lean manufacturing and service firms for more than 20 years.

Dan has been teaching at the collegiate level for the past 30 years. He currently teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in production/operations management, lean management, and quantitative analysis. His private sector experience in a variety of different industries allows him to have a solid frame of reference for the interests of most of his students. Dan has won numerous teaching awards, but his continued professional contact with former students is more indicative of the impact of his teaching efforts.
