Leadership Foundation Implements Committee Structure

Aug 13, 2018 – The Board of Trustees of the Delta Sigma Pi Leadership Foundation approved and implemented a streamlined board committee structure. This updated structure will align the Leadership Foundation's committee structure with strategic priorities and operational competencies.

Committees are valuable vehicles used to accomplish much in an organization and can increase overall efficiency," said Tyler Wash, Executive Vice President. "Committees provide opportunities for the Leadership Foundation to foster and develop talent in order to keep the leadership pipeline full. Involving more people, allowing volunteers to use their specialized skills or interests, and addressing work in right-sized groups make committees a very real asset."

The updated structure includes the following committees:

Advancement Committee
The purpose of the Advancement Committee is to support the Board of Trustees in the strategic planning and oversight of the fundraising and stewardship undertakings of the Leadership Foundation. The committee advises the board on fundraising policies, fundraising programs and stewardship activities.

Audit Committee
The purpose of the Audit Committee is to support the Board of Trustees in fulfilling its oversight responsibility with respect to the financial reporting process, the system of internal controls, the audit process and the Leadership Foundation's process for monitoring compliance with laws and regulations.

Board Development & Nominations Committee
The purpose of the Board Development & Nominations Committee is to support the Board of Trustees in the recruitment and retention of trustees and volunteers, specifically to examine the reasons the Leadership Foundation attracts and maintains volunteers and to assure that the board remains proactive in maintaining strong succession plans. The committee advises the board on trustee policies, provides recommendations for internal officers and oversees programs for the recruitment and retention of trustees and volunteers.

Finance Committee
The purpose of the Finance Committee is to support the Board of Trustees in the financial oversight and planning for the Leadership Foundation. The committee advises the board on financial policies, financial regulations and investments.

Scholarship & Grant Committee
The purpose of the Scholarship & Grant Committee is to support the Board of Trustees in the strategic planning and oversight of the allocation of grants and scholarships from the Leadership Foundation. The committee advises the board on granting policies, granting opportunities and the process to administer scholarships and grants.

In addition to the board committees, the Leadership Foundation also established other volunteer support groups which will aid in the work of the organization and work directly with the board committees and the Leadership Foundation staff. Examples of these groups include the Investment Subcommittee, Grand Chapter Congress Planning Team, and Scholarship Selection Team.

Upon the approval of the new board committee structure, Katie Magoon, president and chair, appointed the following trustees to serve as committee chairs:

Advancement Committee: Chuck Brown
Audit Committee: Larry Van Quathem
Board Development & Nominations Committee: Randy Hultz
Finance Committee: Jeff Briggs
Scholarship & Grant Committee: Mike Vitale

"These brothers are highly motivated and have a desire to move Delta Sigma Pi forward," said Magoon. "As our Leadership Foundation continues to build on the success of the past, these individuals will help lead us down the path to implement change and prepare the organization for the future. We thank them for their service and look forward to a productive year."

The committee chairs took office on July 1 and will serve until the Leadership Foundation's 2019 Annual Meeting, which will be held in conjunction with Grand Chapter Congress in Atlanta.
