Jeff Berlat, Houston, will lead the 2023 GCC Host Committee along with the help from the Space City Houston Alumni Chapter. 

“I have lived in Houston for 46 years, moving here in the fourth grade. I have seen the tremendous growth of Houston in terms of population and Fortune 500 companies starting and moving to Houston. The diversity of culture make Houston a great place to visit. We have everything someone would want in a town—opera, ballet, theater, museums and sports,” says Berlat.

The Host Committee will work to ensure 2023 Congress attendees enjoy their time in Houston. Jeff and the Committee will also support the Executive Director in efforts to gather information on vendors and venues in the Congress area, promote and support attendance by local brothers, provide “welcoming” information and services for Congress attendees and help volunteer leaders and staff to address needs during Congress.

“GCC will be exciting because the hotel will be in a rejuvenated downtown area. There are restaurants and entertainment all around the Marriott Marquis. In addition to the Texas-shaped lazy river, the hotel is close to many entertainment options for everyone. The zoo area, which is where most of the museums are, is a 15-minute light rail ride away. We also have hundreds of restaurants with James Beard level chefs within five miles of the hotel. Discovery Green is a large downtown park and just three blocks from the hotel.” 

Jeff’s lifelong dedication to Delta Sigma Pi is exemplified through all of the leadership roles he’s served. He’s served as District Director for Eta Psi at Houston and Theta Omega at St. Edwards (TX), Leadership Foundation Trustee and has been active with the Leadership Foundation for the last nine years.
