To talk to Mary Miracle is to hear the heartbeat of Delta Sigma Pi. Her passion for the Fraternity is grounded not in titles or recognition, but in people—and specifically, helping chapters grow into the strongest versions of themselves. For Brother
Miracle support begins at the chapter level, where lasting connections are formed and futures are shaped.
Mary’s journey with Delta Sigma Pi began at Alpha Theta Chapter.
“What did Deltasig do for you?” she reflected. “It gave me a home. It did other activities as well, but that chapter was my home.”
She recalls her first chapter meeting vividly and said “I can’t remember what I had for lunch yesterday, but I remember walking through the doors and realizing I was in the right place for the meeting—and I’ve been in the right
place ever since.”
That sense of belonging fueled Mary’s involvement. She served in several officer roles within her chapter and later attended a regional event, which introduced her to the broader impact of Delta Sigma Pi across the country. After graduation, Mary
was encouraged to volunteer at the national level and provide help to chapters and brothers like how the Alpha Theta chapter helped her.
Her goal as a leader is short and sweet: to constantly challenge chapters to grow. “I want chapters to look at the bigger picture,” she explained. “I want to challenge them to try something new.”
Today, Mary continues this mission as District Director for Miami-Ohio and Marshall (WV). There are many ways to describe her drive and passion for chapters, but it’s best shown through some of her favorite memories.
One moment took place at the Central Office, where a brick from Michael Hayes is displayed as part of the Building on Brotherhood Brick Campaign (Learn more about the Building on Brotherhood Brick Campaign). Michael Hayes, Miami-Ohio, passed away in 2004 from small bowel cancer. His chapter honors his legacy through an annual Michael Hayes 5K race to fundraise
for the Michael G. Hayes Memorial Scholarship Fund, which supports Miami University students battling life-threatening illnesses.
When the brick was installed, Mary saw firsthand what it meant to the chapter. She later shared copies of The Deltasig magazine featuring Michael—including an issue recognizing him as a Regional Collegian of the Year—with his father.
“It had been almost 20 years and his Dad was not aware Michael had received that honor. To give him a piece of his son’s story he hadn’t known was incredible.”
Another powerful experience came in 2022, when a composite photo from Miami University’s chapter dating back to 2000 was rediscovered. During a gathering of the Cincinnati Alumni Chapter, Jeff Briggs, Miami-Ohio, recognized Brother Kelly
Bloom, Miami-Ohio, who was aboard American Airlines Flight 11 on September 11, 2001.
“With some research, I found her parents’ address,” Mary said. “Former Alpha Upsilon Chapter President Mitchell Boice delivered the composite, and he and Kelly’s parents hung it in their family room. They were so appreciative that
we remembered Kelly after all those years.”
For Mary, even small actions can make a lasting impact. Before she was even District Director for Marshall (WV), she suggested members wear chapter shirts on the same day to increase visibility during recruitment. When the chapter explained they couldn’t
afford shirts, Mary didn’t hesitate to act. “I told the President, ‘Send me everyone’s sizes and your address. I’ll buy the shirts.’” Isabel Horter, Marshall (WV), later told her, “This is the
first time I felt anyone outside our group believed in us.”
These moments reflect Mary’s philosophy: Delta Sigma Pi is about the people. “It’s about making connections,” she said. “Not just as a group, but with individuals.”
Mary finds joy in helping members succeed—whether that means supporting leadership development, helping students land internships and jobs, or simply lending an ear for conversation. By building members at the college level, Mary hopes to see increased
alumni engagement across the Fraternity. “With any luck, you’ll spend far more time as an alumnus than as a collegiate member,” she said. “We want that experience to be just as meaningful.”
Her advice to members is characteristically warm and direct: show up, embrace the connections, and don’t be afraid to step outside your comfort zone. “If you’re ever at a Deltasig event and don’t know anyone,” she said with
a smile, “come find me. We’ll meet everybody.”

Mary attended the graduation of Ha Nguyen, Miami-Ohio. Brother Nguyen parents were unable to attend, so Mary made sure to make it special for her. “After the graduation, her parents called and thanked me. I couldn't believe it. It was amazing.”
