Phoenix is a perfect location for one of the 2025 Fall LEAD Schools. People may know Phoenix for its year-round sun, desert beauty, and world-class resorts and golf. As the fifth-largest city in the U.S., it also offers sophisticated urbanscapes, southwest culture and lots of outdoor adventure. The "Valley of the Sun," is surrounded by mountain parks so it's easy to get out and enjoy the flora, fauna and some incredible views (and sunsets).
Outdoor adventures are never far away. Urban summit hikes at Camelback Mountain and Piestewa Peak are grinding natural stair steppers best tackled by experience hikers. Other summits in Phoenix Mountains Preserve have the same inspiring metro views but without the steep elevation gains. Short drives away, the McDowell Mountains, Superstition Mountains and South Mountain Park & Preserve offer hundreds of miles of hiking and mountain biking trails that stay busy year-round (but only in the mornings during the hot months).

We will be supporting the Phoenix Community by supporting Kids Need to Read from Mesa, AZ. Kids Need to Read helps children discover the joy of reading and the power of a literate mind by providing inspiring books and literacy programs to underfunded schools, libraries, and community agencies across the United States, especially those serving disadvantaged children.
You can participate in this event by bringing new or “like new” books to the Community Service table during Phoenix LEAD, or by donating books through the Kids Need to Read Amazon wishlist, or by directly donating funds to Kids Need to Read.
