Deltasig Hosts Second Part of Virtual National Volunteer Leadership Retreat

Aug 17, 2020 – Over 100 Deltasig leaders were present for the second session of the three-part Virtual National Volunteer Leadership Retreat.

The re-imagined retreat is lead by Adam Carroll, Phoenix-Thunderbird, and Tim Augustine, Kent State (OH), custom-designed to meet the needs of our volunteer leaders today (including this COVID-19 and virtual environment), and delivered in a live format as a large group, and in small group breakout sessions. Sessions included leader expectations and responsibilities, servant vs. checklist leadership and personal improvement planning.

Attendees also enjoyed a panel discussion with National Organizational Development Chair Lisa Brown, North Central PVP Cory Stopka, VP-Finance Jodi Schoh, South Central Professional Development Committee Chair Emily Slone and National Nominations Committee Member Darrick Williams, who answered questions about their Deltasig journeys.

PGP Onuka Ibe presented to attendees, talking about leadership, the path individuals take and seeing the potential in others, noting part of the reason he volunteers is because, "People saw things in me that I didn't see in myself." He discussed volunteer opportunities within the Fraternity and urged brothers to find a role that matches their interests, and urged leaders to think about diverse perspectives and experiences, and meeting others where they are.

The final part will be held September 12 from 1-4 p.m. Eastern. We encourage you to reach out to registration@dsp.org if you have any questions or would like to register for the final session!
