Omicron Rho Hosts Fourth Annual ConsultingNOW

Dec 26, 2016 – The Omicron Rho Chapter recently hosted its fourth annual ConsultingNOW conference for brothers and students at Cornell.

ConsultingNOW began in 2012 when brothers realized the need to demystify the consulting industry to freshman, sophomores and juniors on campus. The brothers decided to create a full-day conference that allowed students to hear from real professionals, network and ask probing questions to get a better understanding of the consulting industry.

The conferences consist of presentations given by the companies in attendance, as well as a case study competition among attendees. This year consulting firms present included Deloitte, McKinsey and Company, Boston Consulting Group and Oliver Wyman.

According to VPPA Julia Wu, "The case competition was an integral part of the conference where students were able to put their knowledge to the test. In pre-registration, students were asked to sign up in groups of two to five. Two days prior to the conference, they were emailed a case study which they completed before midnight the evening before the conference. The top four teams were given the opportunity to present to the judges for 10-15 minutes. The judges then chose a winner based on various criteria."

Wu also mentions that the event provided the chapter an excellent opportunity to recruit for the spring semester. "The event gave brothers a chance to participate in the conference and network with recently graduated alumni. They were also together for a full day conference, in which they got to know each other better. It was a great way to both educate the community while marketing Delta Sigma Pi. Many of our current brothers first heard about Deltasig through the conference," said Wu.
