Truman State Makes an Impact

Jul 28, 2016 – In April, Iota Nu at Truman State in Missouri hosted a 5K Run/Walk to support the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation
One of Delta Sigma Pi’s core values is supporting our communities. Our chapters support many different organizations through volunteering and financial support. Iota Nu raised more than $600 through registration from almost 50 participants and T-shirt sales. The chapter, however, was able to raise more than $1,800 due to local sponsorships including a generous donation by local real estate agent, Keith Jackson, husband of Truman State finance professor Katherine Jackson.
Dr. Jackson shared the following note with Chapter Advisor Debra Cartwright: "I just wanted to share with you how awesome Delta Sigma Pi was to Keith. As you may know, Keith's oldest son, Kyle, died from Cystic Fibrosis. Keith was active in raising money for Delta Sigma Pi this year and participated in the 5K run. The day before the event, the students presented him with a plaque to commemorate all his hard work on behalf of CF. I have attached a picture of the plaque and the kids presenting it to him. I can't tell you how much that meant to him as the event took place a week after the anniversary of Kyle's death. Please tell them for us, they rock and they really were most thoughtful. Neither Keith nor I will ever forget their kindness."
