2015 LEAD Provincial Conference Recap

Mar 08, 2015 – Networking, educational sessions, brotherhood bonding and so much more made these LEADs a success!

This spring 1,500 brothers attended the five LEAD Provincial Conference and Council Meetings in Ohio, Iowa, Oklahoma, Oregon and Alabama. At these incredible events, brothers networked, attended excellent educational sessions, discussed bylaws proposals, critiqued resumes, supported the Leadership Foundation and Ronald McDonald House Charities and made career connections with our partners and each other.

Here are a few highlights from these events:

Columbus
  • The largest of the five events--378 attendees were captivated by keynote speaker  Kurt Yerak.
  • Silver Helmets were presented to Karla Edwards and John Grant.
Iowa City
  • The 2015 National Collegian of the Year Chad Robinson was announced.
  • At the provincial council meeting, legislation was passed to amend our bylaws to add a national Alumni Chapter Committee.
  • Legislation was also passed to amend Ritual. Both bylaws proposals will be voted on by the Grand Chapter.
Oklahoma City
  • Springleaf Financial, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, GEICO and Paycom representatives accepted resumes and spoke to brothers about career and internship opportunities.
  • Collectively, the province donated 71.82 pounds of pop tabs to our national philanthropy, Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Portland
  • Newly organized Portland Alumni chapter held a reception at the hotel prior to the banquet. 
  • Hawaii-Manoa won the collegiate travel award and Phoenix-Thunderbird won the alumni travel award. 
  • After the council meeting an expansion meeting was held to provide training and prepare for more chapter growth in Oregon and Washington. 
Birmingham
  • Colony members from five different colleges attended for a total of 19 colony members, the largest colony attendance recorded for any one LEAD event.  
  • Christian Brothers (TN) was recognized for bringing the most pop tabs for Ronald McDonald House. 
  • Silver Helmets were presented to Victor Calero, Sherry Flood, Angela Murphy and Patrick Murphy.
