2020 Pledge Education Program

Aug 16, 2020 – Starting this fall, new members will experience a new pledge education program concentrating on integration, facilitation and education.

The program, which was developed based on member and task force feedback, enhances the education of pledges, provides more opportunities for members to get to know the pledge class and gives further structure and guidance to support the Vice President-Pledge Education.

The program focuses on:
  • Integration - Pledges will better integrate into the chapter. This ensures higher brother retention.
  • Facilitation - Additional guidance to VPPEs will enhance the in-person pledge meetings.
  • Education - Pledges will learn about Deltasig history and structure through an online learning system which includes online quizzes and a comprehensive exam.
This new online learning system follows along with the facilitated meeting curriculum and the updated Crown & Delta, which has been re-imagined to interact with program activities including fill-ins, discussion prompts and personal reflection. Although the COVID-19 pandemic has created challenges for all, the new online learning system and online quizzes couldn't have come at a better time. The new facilitated meeting can also be done effectively virtually.

Meetings include the following topics and discussions:
  • Meeting 1 - Pledging Ceremony, Big Brother Introductions, Overview of the Pledge Education Program
  • Meeting 2 - Founders of the Fraternity, Personal Leadership Styles, Delta Sigma Pi's Place in History, The Rose of Deltasig and The Greek Alphabet
  • Meeting 3 - Applying the Risk Management Policy, Campus Resources for Risk Management, Introduction to Ethical Decision Making
  • Meeting 4 - National, Regional, Local Organization Structure, Chapter Management Program (CMP), Event Planning
  • Meeting 5 - Personal Values Clarification (Ideal Member), Organizational Values Clarification (Ideal Chapter), Connecting to the Purpose of Delta Sigma Pi
