Scholarship Spotlight: Clayton Buckaloo

Nov 06, 2018 – Clayton Buckaloo, South Carolina, is the 2018 recipient of the Turnquist Scholarship and weighs in on the value of Deltasig.

How does this scholarship benefit you and your growth as a professional? Clayton Buckaloo
This scholarship, beyond serving as an incredible tool and gesture of support for my academic and professional career, allows me to pay it forward. Receiving this scholarship award better enables me to have financial control over my future so that I can turn around and support future students with big dreams and a desire to seize all the opportunities that higher education can provide.

Is there a Deltasig you look up to/who mentors you? Who and why?
My big brother, Dana Reilly, is a Deltasig whom I have looked up to since I was a pledge when she welcomed me into the brotherhood. With her insight and attention, she played a valuable role in my professional development, while also serving as a role model. She inspires me to always try, and her passion radiates through everything she does. Dana takes calculated risks in her professional career and views herself as a global citizen. I am very grateful to call her my big, my brother and my friend.

What has been your favorite Deltasig moment?
The past few years have been a series of outstanding Deltasig moments, for which I am incredibly grateful. The most recent example includes how two brothers joined me on a sponsored road trip to launch a podcast assessing what is on the minds of college students across the country. It was inspiring, reflective and incredibly fun. I cannot imagine having done this 4,100 mile adventure with anyone other than my brothers.
