Lynchburg Hosts Event on Professionalism with Careers Partner

Apr 13, 2015 – Nu Chi Chapter used our partnership with Enterprise Rent-A-Car to host special event.
As the VP-Professional Activities for the Nu Chi Chapter at Lynchburg, Heather Mazur was looking for a new speaker to bring to campus that her chapter had not heard from in previous years. She wanted a speaker that would provide useful information and captivate the audience. Thanks to the VP-Professional Activities of Kappa Nu Chapter at Longwood, Mazur learned of the opportunity to bring one of our careers partners to campus, Enterprise Rent-A-Car.

Representatives from our partners can provide professional events on a variety of topics from workplace etiquette to interviewing tips. The speaker at Lynchburg, spoke about professionalism in the workplace and the steps one can take to ease the transition from "backpacks to briefcases".

After being put in touch with a local recruiter, Heather scheduled a time convenient for her to visit our campus. This event was planned a month in advance to give full notice to the chapter and to fit into the recruiter's schedule. Brothers and pledges attended the event and one brother was even able to obtain a full-time job after speaking with the recruiter.

When planning an event like this, Heather recommends doing so far in advance and presenting a gift to the speaker.

According to Heather, she encourages taking advantage of opportunities with careers partners because you can learn a lot and even land a job after graduation. The partners are here to help and are happy to give career advice to brothers.
