Nu Sigma Chapter Hosts Reps from Alex and Ani

Apr 09, 2015 – Brothers at Roger Williams brought representatives to campus from the popular jewelry and accessories company.

Roger Williams University is located in Bristol, Rhode Island, which is only 25 miles from the headquarters of Alex and Ani in Cranston. This close proximity and the Leading With Values Conference held by Alex and Ani, led to Nu Sigma Chapter members connecting with representatives from the rising, eco-conscious company that embraces the power of positive energy.

The conference inspired chapter VP-Professional Activities Ana Barcelona to bring the best companies to campus and the chapter started with their inspiration--Alex and Ani! Two employees who were also Roger Williams alumni spoke to the chapter. Jessica Latimer Woodbury is a senior manager/social media coordinator and Jenn Olivo who is a social media coordinator graciously agreed to visit their alma mater. They discussed the process of moving past the post graduation lifestyle and how to apply correctly for a job in the business world.

Jessica and Jenn's experiences include reviewing thousands of applications and they explained that being creative is incredibly important. For example, if appropriate, a video resume via YouTube would differentiate a candidate from others.

After listening to the expert advice, the event concluded with Q&A about the company. Brothers learned about the company culture at Alex and Ani and their “no fan left behind” policy. Under this policy, every tweet, comment, message on social media gets acknowledged. Since the chapter contacted Alex and Ani about coming to campus through social media, brothers knew firsthand that they upheld this policy. Chapter members appreciated their integrity, the values behind Alex and Ani, and what the company strives to live up to. Nu Sigma Chapter hopes to make more connections with Alex and Ani as well as have company representatives come to campus again next semester.
